The dishwasher is one of the most useful home appliances, but it turns out we're using it wrong. If you're lucky enough to own one, you can simply put the stack of crockery that has built up through dinner, add a tablet, press a few buttons and let it go to work.
But according to one expert, some common errors may be affecting the cleaning tool's efficiency.Andrew Laughlin of consumer watchdog Which?
has taken to social media to share five things he would "never do" with his dishwasher, including rinsing dishes before popping them in.
Instead, we should trust the appliance to do this for us, the Mirror reports."Just scrape off the food and put [the plates] straight in," Laughlin explained in a TikTok clip. "Your dishwasher can more than cope with it and it saves on water and energy."The pro also advised there is no need to use the detergent dispenser, and argues throwing the tablet into the machine 'works just as well'.
