Director Lenny Abrahamson on what attracted him to Normal People adaptation

evoke.ieLenny Abrahamson is the most famous director in Ireland. He’s the man behind the camera of Oscar-winning Room and cult classic Frank.
He picked up an Academy Award nomination for the Brie Larson vehicle in 2015 and has several IFTAs under his belt. So when he found out there was a possibility Sally Rooney’s Normal People would be turned into a series he was eager to be involved.
He directs the first six episodes of the 12 part drama alongside Hettie Macdonald who helms the last half. Speaking to EVOKE, he revealed that he wanted to direct the series before the book even came out.
