Detectives have revealed their investigation into Lucy Letby is continuing as they probe other unexplained baby collapses during her nursing career.
After Letby, 33, was convicted of seven infant murders and attempting to murder six other babies, the senior detectives in charge of the investigation revealed the case remains open.
As part of the investigation, officers are reviewing 4,000 admissions of babies while Letby was on training placement at Liverpool Women’s Hospital in 2012 and 2015. They are also looking at further unexplained collapses at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit where she worked from 2010 as a student nurse.
Police stress they are at the early stage of a complex ongoing investigation, dubbed Operation Hummingbird. As they did with the cases that went to court, police will commission medical experts to review any evidence gathered.
