It remains to be seen as to whether Prince William and Prince Harry will meet up when the Sussexes visit the UK next month. But royal biographer Andrew Morton has told OK!

that their late mother Princess Diana would be desperate for them to reconcile. Ahead of Diana's anniversary on 31 August, Andrew says she would be pained by the current rift between her sons. "Like any mother, she’d be wanting to bang their heads together and get them to kiss and make up," he says. "This is not what she planned.

She wanted William to be the next king and she wanted Harry to be his wingman. But you can’t be a wingman 6,000 miles away. She would be very troubled by the situation between her two boys." However, Andrew adds that Diana would be delighted that William, 40, and Harry, 37, have both proved to be highly involved fathers - as well as devoted husbands. “She would be so glad that her sons now have their own children, and are both in happy marriages," he says. "The interesting thing about William and Harry is that they both married for love, not duty.

In a way, one of her big legacies is how William took his time to court Catherine. He learnt a great deal from his mother and father’s mistakes.” The princes have frequently suggested that their mother would have adored being a grandmother, too. "William and Harry have both said how much they would have loved their wives to have met Diana and to see their children grow up," says Lizzie Robinson, ITV News Royal Producer and host of the Royal Rota podcast. "She would have been a huge part of both their families had she still been alive." Diana may have had a particular affinity with Prince William and Kate’s daughter Princess Charlotte.
