Speaking of the Sussexes’ bombshell Oprah interview in 2021, the commentator explains: “If Diana had seen that interview, she would have been heartbroken, but not shocked.
But I think she would have been proud of Harry for refusing to let his wife go through that.” The couple stunned viewers with revelations of racism in the Royal Family and many spotted similarities between the controversial chat and Diana’s Panorama confessional on the BBC in 1995.
Meghan revealed that, like Diana, she had had suicidal thoughts. “I just didn’t want to be alive any more,” she said. Diana had to navigate the choppy waters of royal life largely by herself, but Kate Middleton has been able to learn through her late mother-in-law’s experiences.
