Detectives are urgently appealing for witnesses after a 'horrific' attack that killed a 'vulnerable' woman in Bury, as two murder suspects remain in custody to be questioned.

Emergency services raced to the scene of a disturbance on Pear Avenue on Saturday night (September 16), where officers found a 55-year-old woman unconscious.

She was rushed to hospital but later died on Monday (September 18) as a result of the injuries she sustained in the attack. A murder probe was launched by Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team who have arrested a 31-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. For the third day, forensics and police remained on Pear Avenue with the victim's house taped off. Floral tributes were also left placed on the ground at the scene.
