Dessert and burger diner crowned best in Scotland for second year

A family-run Ayr diner has scooped a hat-trick of top industry awards after being crowned the best in Scotland. Nanny Mary’s was crowned the Best Food Business in the country at the Prestige Awards last month – as they retained the top prize for the second year running.The popular Smith Street foodie spot has become a firm favourite with its irresistible desserts and mouthwatering dishes.Their latest award is their third in 2023 and their fourth in 12 months, with Nanny Mary’s also scooping Best Burger in Scotland, at the Scottish Entertainment Awards and Best Dessert Outlet in Scotland at the Food Awards – all in this year.The diner was opened up in honour of the late Nanny Mary, who brought the family together with good homely cooking made with love.Granddaughter Allana Harte says that ethos has helped Nanny’s stand out among the rest.Allana, who runs things alongside mum Alana, and grandad James Brown, told Ayrshire Live: “Family is at the heart of everything we do.“We’re all about good homely hearty meals and desserts.“We want people to enjoy family time – the same way we got to enjoy it.“You can go anywhere for a burger but we wanted to create a unique family environment.
