Derek Hough & Hayley Erbert To Make Documentary About Her Emergency Craniectomy
justjared.comDerek Hough and Hayley Erbert are sharing the story of her health scare last year. The professional dancing couple went through a very trying time in late 2023 when she collapsed backstage on tour and had to have emergency brain surgery.
Now, the couple is working on a documentary, looking back on the events that took place and her story of survival. Keep reading to find out more… Derek will executive produce the doc, which is being made with Voyeur Verite Presents, according to Deadline. Jason Bergh, who helmed Jennifer Lopez‘s The Greatest Love Story Never Told, is set to direct.
Back in April, Hayley was cleared to dance again and made her emotional return to the Symphony of Dance Tour, followed by returning to the ballroom on DWTS for Dedication Night on Tuesday (October 15), where she performed a routine with Derek.
During the episode, Derek looked back on the night where he was on stage waiting for her to join him when the stage manager told him she was having seizures and “essentially dying.” Afterwards, doctors warned that she may not survive her emergency surgery, and if she does, she could be a completely different person, with the possibility of never walking again.
