The 56-year-old presenter has had both doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine, but said he started to develop symptoms such as a fever, chills and coughing fits just two days after Italy beat England and Wembley on July 11.
But while describing it as the "roughest I've felt" from an illness in his adult life, Piers wasn't getting any sympathy of Loose Women panellist Denise Welch.
The Geordie actress, 63, has often been fiercely vocal about the government's handling over coronavirus restrictions during the pandemic, and took to Instagram to question Piers' latest admission.
