Denise Van Outen has joined the ongoing Strictly Come Dancing conversation, as Peter Andre criticises those "dragging everyone into" the controversy. The Celebrity Gogglebox star took to Instagram today to reminisce about her time on the show in 2012, amid the scandals tainting the 20th anniversary series of the BBC dance competition.Denise was a contestant during the 10th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2012, where she was partnered with professional dancer James Jordan.

The duo topped the leaderboard seven times throughout the competition. However, some fans criticised her participation due to her previous West End stage experience, which they believed gave her an unfair advantage.

On 20 December 2012, Denise and James finished as runners-up, alongside Kimberley Walsh and Pasha Kovalev, losing to winning pair Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace.

Denise's former dance partner James found himself embroiled in the scandal earlier this month when old footage resurfaced on social media following Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice's Strictly exit.James told fans last week: "For those of you who have seen the edited BBC VT of me training with Georgina 18 years ago - yes I had hair once! !"But I just wanted to reassure you that footage was shot and edited together by the BBC team for transmission on It Takes Two 18 years ago in specific ways for the purposes of ENTERTAINMENT."James Jordan, who left Strictly in 2013, has defended his past behaviour on the show, referencing footage from 2006 where he appeared to be harsh with his dance partner Georgina Bouzova.
