Tony Jordan, the creative genius behind Death in Paradise, has illuminated the "problem" presented by Ben Miller's exit from the popular BBC programme.

Ben portrayed DI Richard Poole and was the series' first detective before meeting his untimely end at the beginning of the third season.

DI Poole's shocking murder was a turning point, with his successor Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) stepping up to solve the case, even unravelling the enigma of Poole's own death.

In a recent BBC documentary about Death in Paradise, Tony discussed the show's winning formula and its roster of detectives with Don Warrington, who stars as the Commissioner.
