Deaf boy, 3, in tears as mum 'forced to prove his disability' in Poundland mask row

A mum has slammed a Poundland store for claiming it made her feel like she had to prove her three-year-old son is disabled. Chantelle Johnson's son Noah was born deaf and has brain damage as well as autism.

Little Noah lip reads so his mum is exempt from wearing a face mask in shops so she can support her young son. But the 22-year-old claims she was confronted as she and Noah popped into Poundland on Stockton high street on Friday to buy some Calpol.

Chantelle was also with her four-year-old son Hugo and her mum Donna Mccoy, 40, a retail assistant, Teesside Live reports. She claims a staff member asked for a letter from the hospital to prove she was exempt from wearing a face mask, which they didn't have.
