Marvel‘s latest film Deadpool & Wolverine is bringing in the big bucks, according to reports.The film, which released last week, has already broken the record for the highest opening weekend for a film that’s rated R, bringing in an estimate of $205million in North American studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
That has far surpassed the previous record, which was originally helped by the first Deadpool film with $132million.Internationally, Deadpool & Wolverine‘s opening weekend has racked up an additional $233.3million, for a total of $438.3million globally.
The feat isn’t only a big deal for R-rated films; it’s also big among all films.The Hollywood Reporter also notes that the film has now clinched the eighth largest filming opening of all time.
Among breaking records, the film is also the biggest opening ever for stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. It’s also the biggest July opening of all time, the biggest opening of 2024 so far.
