Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is planning a mega Emmy weekend in December — although it remains to be seen whether the Daytime Emmys will be a part of the festivities.
The org has firmed up dates for the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmys, the 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards and Trustees’ Gala and the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmys, all of which will take place the weekend of December 16 and 17.
Meanwhile, there’s no word yet on when the flagship Daytime Emmys ceremony — which had been scheduled to air on CBS in June — might take place.
CBS and NATAS didn’t have further information on when the event might take place; NATAS only noted in its release that “information regarding additional Daytime Emmy Award ceremonies may be announced.” Technically, despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the Daytime Emmys are free and clear to move forward, because it falls under the non-struck SAG-AFTRA Network Code deal (as do the soap operas, talk shows and judge series being honored during the ceremony).
