David Jason's 'delight' as he discovers existence of daughter, 52
ok.co.ukOnly Fools And Horses legend David Jason has expressed "delight" after discovering he is father to a previously unknown 52-year-old daughter.
The 83-year-old, who is also dad to 22-year-old Sophie with wife Gill Hinchcliffe, 62, learnt the news only recently, he told the Mirror.
His daughter, Abi, was born in 1970 following a brief relationship with her actress mother Jennifer Hill. While Sir David and Jennifer remained friends and he even met Abi several times over the years, it was only recently he discovered that he was her father.
Sir David told the Mirror: "To say it was a surprise to find out I had a daughter from years ago is an understatement." He continued: “However, on settling with the news, I am delighted that I am now able to get to know Abi and so we meet up when we can. “My wife, Gill, and daughter, Sophie, have been very supportive and -understanding and have embraced Abi and welcomed her and her young son into her now wider family.” The news makes Sir David a grandad - as Brighton-based actor Abi also has a son, Charlie, aged ten.
