David Dimbleby is considering a bid to be BBC's next chairman. Sir David Clementi is standing down from the prestigious role as the BBC chairman in February 2021.

Now the former Question Time host David, 81, is considering stepping up to the job to follow in his footsteps. He laid his plans out on the table in BBC’s Newscast podcast.

Previously, David expressed his horror over reports Prime Minister Boris Johnson wanted to give the job to former editor of the Telegraph newspaper Charles Moore.

He said of his plans to apply: "I still might apply, depending on who comes forward... "Boris Johnson, we know, wants to bring the BBC to heel.
