Rumours have been swirling for months that David Beckham offered to pay off a Scots couple's mortgage in order to throw a 50th birthday bash.It was claimed that the former Man United star wanted to book out the lavish five-star hotel Gleneagles to host weekend-long celebrations for his wife Victoria, but the venue was booked by a Scots couple for their wedding. The football icon reportedly offered to pay off the pair's mortgage - and to stump up the cash for their impending nuptials.

The prestigious resort is set in the heart of Scotland and the three-storey category B listed building dates back to 1924.The hotel also features 10 restaurants and bars, which "provide the perfect backdrop for special family celebrations, post-round drinks, romantic dinners and cosy nightcaps" and more than 200 bedrooms - making it the perfect spot for a big birthday bash full of celebs.

But the rumours have been rubbished as an "urban myth" by staff at the swanky resort. According to the social media rumours, Becks offered the couple a pretty penny to 'move their wedding' so he could throw the big celebration.

A 'friend of a friend' took to X, formerly Twitter, to talk about the rumour. Ollienarrator said: "A friend of a friend is getting married at Gleneagles next year but David Beckham wants the date for his 50th, so to get the friend to move it so he can have the hotel, Gleneagles are paying for their new wedding date, honeymoon AND paying off their mortgage… the power of Becks." However, all may not be as the venue has since spoken out about the long-running "urban myth".
