On Friday Ukrainian troops liberated the city which had been under Russian control since the onslaught of the invasion last March.
And amongst the celebrations and outpour of emotion, a photo emerged on social media of a man sporting an Aberdeen jacket embracing a Ukrainian soldier.
The image attracted the attention of Dons chairman Dave Cormack, who took to his social media account to explain the incredible story behind the photo.
