Former Pop Idol star Darius Campbell Danesh was found dead at the age of 41 after being found unresponsive in an apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11, 2022 in the US.The Scottish singer's death was ruled an accident by the medical examiner who said he died from “inhalation of chloroethane”, commonly known as ethyl chloride.
Darius had been using the medication to treat chronic neck pain he’d been suffering since a car accident.And now with the investigation into his death completed by police, his heartbroken family have released more details about his final hours.
He was said to be in 'good spirits' and enjoyed dinner with friends just the night before his tragic passing. They said in a statement as reported by the Mirror: "The night before Darius passed, he had dinner with close friends, who reported that 'Darius was in a lot of pain, but he was in good spirits when he was with us." The 41-year-old, from Bearsden, near Glasgow, had been suffering chronic neck pain as the result of two car accidents - the first which occurred in Spain back in 2010 when he suffered a broken neck as he recalled coming "just three millimetres from death," when the car veered out of control at smashed into a wall at 70mph.Darius had reportedly been offered an operation on his neck following the accident that could have been life-changing for the star, however, he declined the procedure due to the risk of it impacting his vocal chords.The singer and actors' pain only intensified over the years which got worse following a second car accident in 2021 when he took matters into his own hands and treated the 'severe pain' he was experiencing with marijuana, painkillers, and an anaesthetic drug.It was the aesthetic drug which tragically
