Danny Jones has broken his silence on his 'drunken kiss' with Maura Higgins, issuing a grovelling apology to his wife and family.

Danny, 39, had remained silent on the scandal for almost two weeks, but on Instagram on Friday evening, the McFly star shared a statement saying: "Hello everyone, sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me.

I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately." He added: "I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support.

See you all soon, Danny." Danny was spotted appearing to get cosy with his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! co-star Maura just hours after the BRIT Awards earlier this month.The pair were filmed sharing a kiss at the Universal Music BRIT Awards afterparty on Saturday 1 March.
