With every visit home, I realise just how blessed I am to come from such a beautiful country. Memories of trips make me smile and to mark Scotland’s Year of Stories I’m planning island escapes.
My first adventure was a school trip to Mull. The night before, I was so excited I hardly slept a wink! From then on, I knew exploring and travelling was going to be a big part of my life.
Before we even got on the ferry it was thrilling – Oban seemed like such a big place compared to Kenmore, Perthshire where I grew up.
Having travelled the world since then, that feels like a funny thing to write – but my heart will always be in Scotland. On the ferry, the scenery was stunning.It’s just a 45-minute trip, but Mull felt a million miles away.
