A body has been found in a river in Dumfries and Galloway, sparking a police investigation. The discovery was made at around 8am on Monday, November 14 when officers were called to Dalbeattie Burn, which runs through the town of Dalbeattie.
Photos taken at the scene show several plain clothes and CID officers patrolling the David Street Bridge, which spans the waterway.The area, which is situated near a housing development, has been sealed off to prevent members of the public from passing through.
Numerous cop cars can also be seen parked stationary nearby.The age and gender of the individual is not yet known, nor are the circumstances surrounding their passing, although officers say they are not currently treating the death as suspicious.Door to door enquiries at surrounding houses are also understood to have been carried out, and anyone with any information on the incident is being urged to come forward.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body was discovered in the burn around 8am this morning and police officers are investigating.“At this stage we do not think that there are any suspicious circumstances but our enquires are ongoing.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here.
