Ex-Roma player Daniele De Rossi has revealed he always dreamed of playing for Manchester United, but was put off a move due to the strength of their midfield.
The 36-year-old, who recently retired after a brief spell with Argentinean giants Boca Juniors, is best remembered for his time at Roma, where he made 616 appearances over 17 seasons.
He was at one point linked with a move to Old Trafford, but speaking in an interview with Sky Sport the Italian World Cup winner said the fact the likes of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes were in the side at the time meant he opted to stay at Roma.
