A one-eyed killer continued to protest his innocence until his very last breath as he was executed by lethal injection today.
Daniel Lewis Lee told those gathered at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana: “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life but I’m not a murderer. “You’re killing an innocent man.” Lee, convicted of murdering gun dealer William Mueller, his wife and daughter, "seemed to hang onto life for a few minutes" as the drugs rapidly coursed through his veins.
The 47-year-old was strapped to a gurney and had his arms out by his side with two IV lines. He added: “I bear no responsibility for the deaths of the Mueller family." It took two to three minutes for him to die.
