A dog was destroyed by armed police after officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Rochdale. Officers were scrambled to Rowland Court last night (Tuesday) over concerns for a woman in a house.
They found an 'aggressive' man on the scene. He used a 'dangerous dog' against officers before it escaped from the property, police said.
Armed police then responded and 'used every available tactic' to try and subdue the dog. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community But due the risk posed to neighbours and locals, it was 'humanely destroyed'.
The dog was a Pitbull-type breed, the Manchester Evening News understands. The man, aged 41, was arrested on the scene for common assault and battery.
