A 'danger to life' warning has been issued as part of a four-day yellow weather alert across much of the UK. The Met Office expects parts of the country, including Greater Manchester, to be hit by strong winds and heavy rain in the coming days, with speeds of up to 80mph in some areas and potential flooding.

A yellow alert for wind is in place across parts of the UK, including Greater Manchester, on Thursday (December 5). Further warnings for wind and rain are in place for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
