Dancing on Ice stars Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have said they spotted a potential new contestant during their stint on Emmerdale.

Before returning to the ITV show's judging panel in the new year, the pair donned their ice skates for a cameo role in the ITV soap.

It was announced last month (November) that they'd be making a guest appearance in the show this Christmas. Their scenes will air on Thursday night (December 28) after the Olympic gold medal winners reunited on ice to help Belle Dingle with a marriage proposal.

After Tom was initially thrilled when Nicola King announced the surprise guests for the Christmas fair, his excitement soon turned to disappointment when it was revealed Torvill and Dean were in fact the names of two reindeer.
