Dan Walker was forced to host his final ever BBC Breakfast show after getting less than three hours of sleep.Taking to his Twitter account on Monday, the 45 year old presenter admitted he had to make a lengthy and last-minute stop to charge his electric car while making his way to Manchester to host the show.

Admitting it wasn't the best of situations to be in, Dan, who is set to launch his own show on Channel 5, calculated that he would eventually arrive at his location late at night, which would not allow him much time for rest. "I'm planning on about two and half hours sleep," he explained while sitting in his car. "So if I look a little befuddled in the morning, that's the reason why." On Tuesday morning, Dan shared a clip of him walking into the BBC Studios in Salford for the final time with a box of treats for staff. "Good morning.

Here we go then, final stroll into BBC Breakfast. It's a glorious morning here in Salford. I'm armed with cake for the brilliant breakfast team, who have been an absolute pleasure to work with for six years. "Hopefully, it's going to be a fun day, lots to talk about," Dan said before giving an update on the dilemma he faced the day before. "Last day and all that.

I think you can see I've had under 3 hours sleep but I'm looking forward to seeing you on BBC1 from 6am with @sallynugent," he said optimistically.
