Damian Garcia is reportedly a summer transfer target for Rangers - with the midfielder currently in the midst of a contract dispute at top Uruguayan club Penarol.After helping the side's youth team win the U20 Copa Libertadores in 2022, the 20-year-old has now firmly established himself at senior level making 17 appearances so far this season.
The holding midfielder was also a part of Uruguay's victorious U20 World Cup winning side last year, where they beat Italy in the final.
And with Philippe Clement planning a squad overhaul at Ibrox ahead of the new season, South American football journalist and writer Nathan Joyes claims Garcia is on the Light Blues radar as he approaches the final six months of his deal at Penarol.
The Ibrox giants have already completed their first signing of the summer in the shape of Fluminense wing-back Jefte while Godoy Cruz's Chilean defender Thomas Galdames is also believed to be target.Talks over a new contract for Garcia at Penarol have stalled, with the player's agent Edgardo Lasalvia recently stating that Garcia's weekly wage barely covers his rent.
