Within 15 hours of a mean thief ransacking his home in Heaton Mersey, John Macaulay had CCTV of a suspect using his wife's stolen bank card at local shops - and a name for him.
He was even able to tell police when the suspect was going to be in the chemist to collect his methadone. Amongst things taken by the intruder were unopened presents for his son who was celebrating his second birthday the day of the break-in.
