A dad recorded a final video message for his children before ending his own life. Brendan Halliwell was reported missing by his partner Sharon Moore on May 11 after he failed to turn up for work.
A dog walker discovered the sheet metal worker's body while walking her dog in woods off Robinson Lane in Brierfield, Lancashire, that same day.
Paramedics were called and the 47-year-old was pronounced dead. Brendan, who lived in Brierfield but was born in Burnley, had previously indicated he was planning on ending his life and police treated his disappearance as a high risk case, Lancs Live reports. An inquest held at Accrington Town Hall last week heard that Brendan had previously been diagnosed with depression and anxiety.
In January last year, he was found in the canal by members of the public but he urged them not to call paramedics or the police.
