A dad has been left paralysed from the waist down after a horror motorbike accident on the last day of a dream holiday to Thailand.
Lee Francis and wife Clare were in the country visiting his daughter Katie when they came off the bike and crashed into a barrier on January 19.Clare escaped with a concussion and cuts on her face and body but Lee’s injuries included broken ribs, a fractured spine in three places and severe contusions to the lungs.
He was rushed to hospital and placed on a ventilator before undergoing surgery in a bid to help him keep the use of his legs.The surgery was a success but Lee, 54, was later told he would never walk again.
The dad-of-two, from Church Village in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area of Wales, then had to endure a traumatic 18-hour flight home on a stretcher.Lee, who is now being treated at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, told Wales Online: “I still can’t get my head around it.
