EXCLUSIVE: Shuchi Talati, the filmmaker behind the award-winning coming-of-age drama Girls Will Be Girls, has signed with Curate for management.

Marking Talati’s debut feature, Girls Will Be Girls revolves around Mira (Panigrahi), a 16-year-old coming of age in the Himalayan foothills whose rebellious awakening is intertwined with her mother’s (Kani Kusruti) unfulfilled coming-of-age experiences.

The film world premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award in World Cinema Dramatic and the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting, with the latter prize going to Panigrahi.

Talati was the writer, director and producer of the project — a 2024 Gotham nominee, which is up for the John Cassavetes Award and Best Supporting Performance for Kusruti at the 40th Independent Spirit Awards.
