With the school roll rising, Crossmichael Primary School had to create new house groups to have four instead of three. The houses are now Culgruff, Danevale, Greenlaw and Livingstone as chosen and voted for by the pupils, parents and staff.

These names reflect the old estates that are local to the school. Greenlaw House has responsibility for community engagement.

On the first Friday of each month, they break into house groups to work collaboratively on their activities from P1 to P7. In October, they planted daffodil bulbs in preparation for an idea about holding a daffodil tea as a fundraiser for Marie Curie.

Every step of the way the pupils led the ideas and organisation of the daffodil tea – from booking the village hall to deciding the date.
