Creetown kept up the pressure on Dalbeattie Star in the title race with a 2-0 win at Abbey Vale. Joe McMillan opened the scoring in the first half with Josh Rennie’s goal sealing the points for the men from Castle Cary Park.
Creetown manager Jamie Adams said: “We performed well, didn’t give up too many chances and took ours, which was quite pleasing. “We’ve played Abbey Vale four times in the league over the past two years and taken 12 points so it’s a great return. “I think everybody who goes there knows they’re in for a tough game so to come away with three points on four occasions is very pleasing. “When you play the likes of Abbey Vale, Lochar Thistle, Dalbeattie and Newton Stewart they’re all very similar teams . “And if you’re a wee bit off it you’ll struggle. “All my players were on it, they all performed well and everybody did themselves credit.” Creetown return home on Saturday with Stranraer due to visit Castle Cary Park.
And with Star in cup action, it’s a chance for Creetown to move above the Islecroft men into second. However, Adams said: “It doesn’t matter what Dalbeattie do, we need to win our games of football.
If we don’t win our games it means nothing. “Winning’s a big part of football but it’s not everything, it’s how you conduct yourself, how you perform and what you give every game.
