Craig Tara caravan tribute as holiday home renamed in honour of life saving RNLI fleet

A caravan at an Ayrshire holiday park has been renamed to honour the courage of lifeboat crews past and present.In celebration of Haven’s fifth year of supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institute’s (RNLI) lifesaving charity work, a caravan at Haven’s Craig Tara Park, in Ayr, has been renamed to ‘Mary Sinclair’, after Troon RNLI’s very first lifeboat, which operated from 1871-1886.In a first for Troon RNLI, the caravan ‘boat’ may never touch water, but its stunning seaviews act as a reminder of the selfless work carried out by volunteers at the town’s lifeboat station.Details of volunteers’ life-saving deeds feature on a wall-mounted plaque inside the caravan, alongside ways Haven Holiday guests can donate to the RNLI.This year Haven set out on a nationwide mission to raise £125,000 for the RNLI in 2022- a whopping £27,536.28 of which was raised by Craig Tara through various fundraising methods such as collection bucket runs.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories while you can customise your page with the sections that matter to you.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now on iOS and Android.These funds, which Haven have been raising in aid of RNLI since 2018, help crews, like those in Troon, with essential kit and training to continue to stay safe and save lives at sea.Georgie Stanton, RNLI senior partnerships manager, said: “As a charity we rely on donations to run our lifesaving service, so we are extremely grateful for the support we have received from Haven during our partnership.“Their
