The number of new Covid cases is rising in more than half of England's towns and cities - with three emerging hotspots recording more than double the infections of a week earlier.
Latest figures reveal that, despite a sharp fall in infection rates across the UK, 163 of England's 315 local authority areas have seen a week-on-week rise in new cases.
Selby in North Yorkshire now has the highest infection rate in the country after it rose from 51.9 cases per 100,000 to 110.4 in the seven days to Friday.
Chiltern and Gravesham also saw their infection rates more than double - with the former recording five times as many cases as a week earlier.
