Covid-19 deaths in Scotland have jumped by more than a third in the most recent week, according to new figures. National Records of Scotland (NRS) revealed there were 83 cases where Coivid-19 was mentioned on someone's death certificate in the week ending July 10.
That a rise of 36 per cent - up from 61 the previous week - and is the fifth week in a row in which coronavirus deaths have risen.
Overall, the number of coronavirus related deaths in Scotland has now risen to 15,098. This comes as the number of patients in Scottish hospitals with coronavirus has risen by 15 per cent in the same week, despite a fall in reported cases.
Public Health Scotland's latest Covid survey shows there have been 16,521 new Covid-19 cases in the week ending July 10, a drop of 9.5 per cent from the previous week.
