Coronavirus cases are falling in more than nine out of ten local authorities in England. Across the country 93% of areas are seeing their infection numbers fall as the UK wide total continues to drop.
This comes after weeks of rising figures fuelled by the Delta variant, which ripped across the country in June and July. For the past seven days cases have been falling, with today's 23,511 infection less than half the peak of 54,674 reached on July 17 and the lowest for three weeks.
