A grandma who tragically died after suffering catastrophic injuries in a horror crash in Westhoughton has been remembered as 'courageous' and a 'force to be reckoned with'.

Irene Marion Bull, née Hanaghan, aged 71, passed away in hospital on Monday (December 18) after sustaining serious injuries in the collision on Lower Leigh Road.

Enquiries have suggested a car travelling towards Westhoughton overtook a HGV, subsequently colliding with another car travelling in the opposite direction.

A third vehicle then crashed into the back of this car as it grinded to a halt.
