A couple was left stunned after finding a note hidden inside their wall which was written 70 years ago. Karl Church, 49, and his partner Eve Jones, 48, were in the midst of renovating their bungalow in Kingsthorpe when they came across the letter.

The message was written by John Rainbow in 1953 after he decided to install patio doors in his home, reports Northants Live.

The note read: "Bricklayer rate 3/6 ½. February 17 1953. J. Rainbow, 122 Kingsland Avenue, age 50." Now, the couple is trying to track down the author's descendants.

Eve posted a picture of the amazing time capsule on the Northampton Photos and Social History Facebook page in an effort to find Mr Rainbow's relatives to return it to them.
