Michael Hillier admits killing 38-year-old Liam Smith, who was shot dead before having acid poured over him outside his home in Wigan in November last year.
Mr Smith had been on a Tinder date with Rachel Fulstow previously. She has told jurors at Minshull Street Crown Court that Mr Smith made ‘non-consensual’ sexual advances towards her in a hotel room, but that she didn’t regard it as rape.
But giving evidence for the first time, Hillier claimed that Ms Fulstow, who he began a relationship with in 2020 after she had met with Mr Smith, gave a ‘watered down version’ of the allegation in court ‘to lessen her motive’.
