Ralph Emery, the country music disc jockey and television host, passed away Saturday at the age of 88.He died of natural causes atNashville’s Tristar Centennial Medical Center surrounded by family, reported theAssociated Press.'Ralph had a deep love for his family, his friends and his fans,' the family said in a statement to the AP.

He rose to fame as Nashville WSM's all-night DJ from 1957 to 1972.During that time he interviewed a number of famous music personalities including Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson and Marty Robbins.

After leaving Nashville WSM, Emery began to hostPop! Goes the Country, a syndicated television music series which ran from 1974 to 1980.After that, he began to host Nashville Now in 1983 and continued to do so for the next decade.
