Buile Hill Park.After 20 years of it falling into disrepair, the council had promised cash to help to save a classic of Georgian design dating from 1827.Boarded up and damaged by vandals, it has been a victim of several ill-fated rescue plans.But it is estimated that £5m is required to restore it to its original grandeur.The council has blamed the COVID pandemic and the dramatic slump in the economy for switching the funding to refuse trucks.But City Mayor Paul Dennett insists that the council’s commitment to restoring Buile Hill mansion "remains as strong as ever."“Due to the pandemic and economic downturn, it is clear that the external funding we hoped for will not be made available this financial year.
