The borough’s executive cabinet has recommended proposals for the 2021/22 budget that will be voted on by at a meeting of the full council on February 23.These include a series of cuts and savings totalling nearly £9m, as well as a council tax hike, in order to bridge the authority’s £23m budget gap.Officers say that increasing council tax by 1.99pc, and the precept for adult social care by 3pc, will raise nearly £5m for the town hall.For a typical band A property this increase in council tax will equate to an extra £50.83 per year, or 98p a week.Director of finance Kathy Roe told the cabinet meeting.
