Three Scottish local authorities are set to announce Council tax rises today.Glasgow, Edinburgh and North Lanarkshire councils will meet today to discuss their budgets for the 2025-26 financial year.
A key part of their meetings will be voting on the Council Tax proposals.Glasgow City Council will meet at 11am today. The Record understands that the SNP-run authority is considering a six or seven per cent hike - although this would depend on the support of other parties.
Such a hike would outstrip inflation, but it is still lower than what other councils are considering.Labour-run Edinburgh City Council is meeting at 10am today.
It is considering an eight per cent increase which councillors are likely to vote on. The council has made huge cuts in recent years and the local politicians are keen to limit further pressure on services.North Lanarkshire Council is meeting at 2pm this afternoon.
