direct to your inboxTrafford council has announced its budget for 2021-22, with a budget gap of more than £25m to close.This year’s annual budget for Trafford sees an overall increase of £3.78m from the previous year, from £175.52m to £179.30m.But the council still has had to find ways to plug a £25.52m in-year budget gap, made up of £17.18m of business as usual pressures and £8.34m of specific Covid-19 pressures.Coun Tom Ross, executive member for finance for the authority, said: “The sustainability of council budgets remains a major risk.
Our ability to pay for services through an increase in council tax is limited and means that future sustainability is a major concern.“This means that new savings to already stretched council services.
