Coronation Street star, who plays David Platt on the ITV soap, gave his comments on the latest episode of his Sofia Cinema Club podcast, where he detailed his experience with his co-stars Colson Smith and Ben Price. The trio discussed their start to the new year before Jack weighed in, sharing how he had later discovered that he had Covid."I had the [Covid].

It caught me. No symptoms, nothing," the 34-year-old said.Later in the week, however, Jack realised something wasn't right when he hopped into his shower and couldn't smell his shampoo. The Pudsey-born actor added: "I'm in the shower Monday morning, and I can't smell the shampoo."And I go, 'This is weird.' Shower gel, nothing."He stressed that the shower gel, given to him by his mum as a gift for Christmas, was from a brand he hadn't used before. It subsequently left Jack wondering whether the product was "just sh**" or if he couldn't smell anything because he was coming down with Covid-related symptoms. The father-of-three knew there was something wrong when he then went to brush his teeth but couldn't taste the toothpaste or the mouthwash.Jack went on to contact Corrie bosses, who advised him to take a lateral flow test, which returned with a positive result. While it's unclear when the British Soap Award winner plans on returning to the ITV programme, he did reveal that his taste has now come back. And by the look of things, the shower gel given to his mum wasn't so bad after all as he quipped he can now taste the product."Other than the smell or taste I wouldn't have known that I'd got it," he continued."So that's been my week."Jack has been part of the Coronation Street cast since 2000 and is currently embroiled in a major storyline as his character's ongoing feud.
