Corrie's Beverley Callard has revealed her heartbreak after a 'dear friend' died in her arms.The 66 year old actress, who is best-known for playing Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, recently took part in Channel 4 show Don't Look Down, which will air tonight, on Tuesday, October 10, for Stand up to Cancer.The show is hosted by Take Me Out star Paddy McGuinness, 50, and it will see nine celebs go into the Austrian Alps to learn how to high wire walk, and face a series of vertigo-inducing tasks to prepare them for one final challenge – to wire walk 90 metres above one of London’s most iconic landmarks.
Speaking ahead of the show, Beverley made a heartbreaking confession, as she spoke about the personal impact that cancer has had on her life.
She said: “I had cancer when I was 32 – I’m absolutely fine now. But a very dear friend of mine died in my arms a few years ago of cancer and another is suffering from bone cancer now.
I even lost a very young dog to cancer. "I think when you talk to people, it touches everybody in some way; even if it’s not touched them personally, it’s touched someone they love." She continued: "Before we went, they said the training would be in Austria and it will be to help you with your core strength and with heights.
