Coronavirus shuts UWS as first death in Scotland is confirmed

Students are asked not to attend classes at UWS next week. The university released a statement asking students to stay clear from UWS campuses - including Ayr - as of Monday.

The news comes as the first death was confirmed in Scotland. The number of cases of COVID19 in Scotland has increased to 85.

The patient died in hospital in the Lothian region. In a statement, the university said: “The University is asking students not to attend our campuses from Monday, March 16. “All staff will be required to continue to attend campuses as normal in order to support students and their continued learning needs during this period – if this situation changes we will advise as soon as possible. “Learning materials will be available through Moodle.
